Are you thinking there’s no way you would be able to glamp in the Somerset countryside without your own vehicle? Not to mention the miles of summer traffic jams it would to get here?
We’re happy to tell you there is a way to enjoy car-free travel to the West Country. And it’s probably a LOT easier than you think.
It may, at first glance, be a sleepy Somerset town, but did you know that Castle Cary is actually incredibly well connected? It takes less than two hours to get here from London Paddington. And on most days you’ll find there are over 20 direct trains to choose from.
This handy little station is one of the reasons Bruton has seen such an upsurge of commuting city folk in recent times. And Castle Cary also has a famous connection, being the station you see splashed all over the news on the opening and closing days of Glastonbury Festival.
It takes only a little over 5 minutes to drive from Castle Cary Station to our tranquil glamping site here at Hadspen. And we’ll be more than happy to pick you up if you need us to. Just let us know in advance and we’ll make sure we’re there, ready and waiting, with plenty of boot space for your bags.
Not that you’ll need to bring a huge amount with you.
All the linen, towels and kitchen essentials you’ll need are included with your lodge. And you’ll even find gorgeous, eco-friendly toiletries waiting for you in your luxury bathroom.
While our glamping site is a wonderful place to just chill out and relax (even if we do say so ourselves!), we understand that you might also want to explore the charming towns and villages that surround us.
That’s why we’re happy to arrange bike hire for you, with delivery to site, so you won’t have to worry about leaving your car at home. With Castle Cary and Bruton only a few miles away, as well as numerous places of interest, scenic sites and inviting country pubs, you’ll easily fill a weekend or more without missing your car even a bit.
Don’t fancy cycling? Then simply fill your days with a wealth of adventures over at our next-door neighbours, The Newt. It’s only a short stroll from our glampsite to the entrance of this award-winning Somerset tourist attraction.
Once there you’ll be able to spend time exploring the grounds and gardens, learning about horticulture and visiting Hadspen’s very own Roman villa, reimagined and rebuilt in recent years. Plus there are some amazing eateries to choose from, serving produce grown within the estate, as well as The Newt’s delicious cold-pressed cyder. Not to be missed!
Speaking of which…
When it comes to food, there’s no need to bring anything with you. You’ll find everything you need on hand.
Simply choose from the mouth-watering, locally-sourced food hampers we have on offer for our guests. From breakfast to barbeques, scones to smores, we can even pack up a hearty picnic for you to take out on your adventures. Everything is high quality, high welfare, super fresh and sourced from local Somerset farm shops and suppliers.
Or if you fancy a night off from the food prep, check out some of these ‘foodie’-favourites nearby.
