This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, however it does aim to describe the main facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.
Hadspen Glamping has a steep narrow access track from a single track country lane which bends round to the left into a level gravelled car parking area.
The glamping site is car-free and there is an approximate 60 metre walk to each lodge from the car park. A trolley is provided for luggage transport to and from the lodges. The hilly nature of the property might make access difficult for guests with limited mobility. Horsecombe and Grisway Lodges are situated on the hiller part of the site, and the Lime Kiln has a level pathway to the lodge. Each lodge is accessed via a gravelled pathway which is approximately 1.2 metres wide.
The glamping units are accessed via 4 steps to a decking area which is lit by solar powered lights at night. The decking areas and entrance to lodges are all level access. The Grisway has is a decking extension which has 1 step. The inside of the tents are all on one level however the doors into the bathroom and bedrooms are sliding with a maximum width of 1m. The corridors to the bedrooms and bathrooms are 89cm at their narrowest.
You enter the lodges into an open plan kitchen and living room area. The kitchen has a 4 burner gas hob and an LPG fridge. The living area has sofas and a wood burning stove with oven.
All lodges are equipped with a shower room which has a standard toilet, sink and walk in shower which you will have to step into, over a 10cm lip.
The bedroom layouts are as follows:-
Horsecombe
Two bedrooms – 1 room with a double bed and 1 room with a set of single bunk beds
Lime Kiln
Two bedrooms – 1 room with a double bed and 1 room with a double bed with single bunk
Grisway
Three bedrooms – 2 rooms with double beds, 1 room with a small double with single bunk.
There are wood fired hot tubs included on all lodges, these are situated to the side of the lodges and require you to use a set of three steps to access them.
An LPG boiler provides instant hot water and electricity is provided to various LED lights via solar power, inverter and battery storage. There are sockets with USB and USB-C chargers in the living area. There are no three pin sockets to any of the site. It should be noted that due to the nature of electricity battery storage once they battery has been drained, you will have to wait for daylight hours for it to begin to recharge. There is no TV or wifi. Mobile signal and 4G coverage is good on most networks.
Water is provided from our own borehole fed by an underground spring and is tested annually.
Autism Spectrum – We have a neurodiverse family ourselves so we recognise the importance of the needs presented under the spectrum. We would encourage you to call Lucy to discuss any particular needs. Our site is designed with a peaceful calm nature and is inclusive to all.
Assistance Dogs – We operate a no dogs policy, however in the instance of guide dogs this will be waived, please contact us in the first instance to discuss.
